Accelerated Programme to Enhance Students' eXperience (APEX)
Discover how APEX stretches academically talented Primary 3 to 6 pupils through enriched learning in English, Mathematics, and Science, building curious, confident, and future-ready learners.

“ The more I wonder, the more I love.”
-Alice Walker-
Accelerated Programme to Enhance students’ eXperience (APEX) is designed to stretch Primary 3 to Primary 6 students with academic strengths and talents, while nurturing confident leaders and self-directed learners. Through enriched learning experiences, APEX aims to ignite curiosity, deepen thinking and develop essential 21st Century Competencies that prepare students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Student Identification and Placement
To ensure students with high potential are appropriately stretched, APEX uses a holistic identification process. This goes beyond academic scores to evaluate learning dispositions and cognitive readiness, ensuring that students with specific strengths and talents in English, Math, and Science are matched with the right level of enrichment. Student placement is reviewed annually to ensure the programme continues to align with each student’s developmental needs and learning progress.
English Language

APEX (English Language) comprises three distinctive threads: Scrabble, Writing and Debate, which are offered across P3-P6 levels. With their memorised Latin, Greek roots and two-letter words, our Scrabblers who love wordplay are trained to compete against students from other schools. Through rigorous trainings, our Scrabblers hone their craft in critical, adaptive and strategic thinking. They have brought home many Individual and Team Championship medals over the years.

Those with a flair for writing are given opportunities to develop their creative and journalistic skills. As part of their in-curriculum stretch, our High Ability English Learners come together in the classroom to pen BRavo! – our BRPS student e-newsletter, for the students, by the students. Guided their EL teachers, our APEX students share their creative writing, book reviews, and thoughts about contemporary issues they care about.

Finally, debating is a strategy we employ for our High Ability English Learners to stretch their oracy and critical thinking skills. At the upper primary levels, students are given the opportunity to pit their wits against each other in argumentative debate on topics such as eSports, kid influencers, as well as the banes and boons of video games. In 2025, our school debaters emerged one of the Top 3 teams at the Wits & Words Inter-School Debate Competition (Division II).

APEX (STEM)
The APEX (STEM) adopts a rigorous, inquiry-based and project-based approach to deepen students’ conceptual understanding. Learning experiences are designed to develop students’ critical, adaptive and inventive thinking, while fostering collaboration and effective communication

In APEX (STEM), students engage in inquiry-based STEM learning experiences that develop reasoning, problem-solving and innovative thinking. Through hands-on exploration, students deepen their understanding of scientific concepts by:
Designing creative toys and innovations
Experimenting with flight and aerodynamics using drones
Exploring emerging technologies, including AI-related applications, under expert guidance

Students are encouraged to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, build prototypes and test solutions, fostering resilience, adaptability and a growth mindset. These authentic learning experiences strengthen 21st Century Competencies such as critical, adaptive and inventive thinking as well as communication, collaboration and information skills
