At Blangah Rise Primary School, we believe that student well-being is holistic — a child thrives when the Body, Heart, Mind, and Spirit are nurtured in balance. In partnership with students, teachers, parents, and community partners, we cultivate a caring and enabling environment where every child feels valued, heard, and empowered to grow. Through meaningful and joyful learning experiences, we nurture confidence in every learner and inspire our students to care deeply for others — equipping them to thrive and contribute positively in an ever-changing world.

Healthy Habits, Digital Balance, and Cyber Wellness

Digital well-being is an integral part of every child's holistic development at Blangah Rise Primary School. Understanding its close connection to physical health, we equip students with the knowledge and habits to navigate the digital world responsibly and healthily.

Through our Cyber Wellness programme, students learn how excessive screen time can affect sleep, posture, eyesight, and overall physical health. Across the year, they engage in structured lessons and meaningful discussions — including activities aligned with Safer Internet Day — where they deepen their understanding of online safety, responsible digital behaviour, and how to protect themselves from online harm.

Complementing this is CAPE (Cyber Addiction Prevention and Education), our school-based programme that helps students develop healthy boundaries with technology and prevent excessive use. Through guided self-assessments, mentoring conversations, and data-informed support, students build greater self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making skills.

Together, these efforts nurture students who are not only digitally savvy, but also mindful of their well-being — growing into confident, responsible, and balanced digital citizens ready for an ever-changing world.

Well-Being of the Mind

Cognitive and Psychological Well-Being, Self-Belief, and Confidence

We nurture confident, resilient learners who are equipped to navigate life's challenges with strength and purpose. Through reflective activities, problem-solving tasks, and mentorship, students develop practical strategies to manage stress and anxiety — learning to plan effective study routines, break tasks into manageable steps, and practise positive self-talk. These skills are explicitly taught and reinforced through Form Teacher Guidance Period (FTGP) and Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lessons, the 7 Habits Leader-in-Me modules, and the Programme for Active Learning (PAL). Through these structured learning experiences, students build resilience, develop positive learning habits, and strengthen their social-emotional competencies.

Central to our approach is the intentional nurturing of a growth mindset. Students are encouraged to view setbacks as opportunities for learning and improvement, developing the confidence to persevere through challenges. By learning to reflect on their experiences and embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, they become more independent, adaptable, and confident learners.

Through Be Yourself @ BRPS, students are encouraged to discover their unique strengths, interests, and talents while building confidence in who they are. They are given opportunities to express themselves, celebrate their individuality, and appreciate the diverse strengths of others. Authentic platforms, such as voluntary recess performances, allow students to step out of their comfort zones and showcase their talents in a safe and supportive environment. These experiences build confidence, resilience, and a willingness to embrace new challenges, while inspiring others to discover and develop their own potential.

Emotional Well-Being, Stress Management, and Resilience

Emotional well-being is central to students’ ability to learn and thrive. We create a safe environment where students feel comfortable expressing emotions, seeking help, and supporting one another.

Students use the Zones of Regulation to recognise their emotions, understand triggers, and return to the “Green Zone” — a calm, focused state where they are ready to learn.

On a regular basis, students practise building one another up through the Emotional Bank Account, where they intentionally deposit positive messages and words of appreciation for their peers. This simple yet powerful routine fosters gratitude, affirmation, and a strong culture of care within each class.

During assessment periods such as the PSLE, the entire school community comes together to cheer on the Primary 6 cohort, writing encouraging messages and showing collective support to uplift and motivate them.

Daily Teacher-Student Relationship (TSR) time and Heart-to-Heart Conversations also provide dedicated opportunities for teachers to check in with each student. Through these consistent efforts, students develop emotional resilience, empathy, and confidence, learning to support both their own well-being and that of their classmates.

Well-Being of the Spirit

Purpose, Leadership, and Service

Students grow their sense of purpose by actively supporting and caring for their school community. They are encouraged to share their ideas and perspectives, giving them a voice in shaping activities and contributing to their school community.

Peer Support Leaders play a key role in this, guiding their classmates through peer helping, peer bonding, and peer influencing. They plan and lead activities during Student Wellness periods, creating meaningful experiences that promote social, emotional, and digital well-being.
